Eureka Luminaires Win Five Good Design Awards
Eureka has announced that it has won five Good Design Awards, presented by The Chicago Athenaeum, together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and urban Studies. Arena, Scout, Stella, Twin and Verner were all awarded.
The historic awards program was founded in Chicago in 1950 and is synonymous with the leading and best contemporary design produced around the world. For 2019, over 900 new products and graphic designs were selected and awarded from over 47 countries. The 2019 Good Design Jury was held in New York and Los Angeles and was composed of renowned international specialists with wide design experience, guaranteeing the high quality and high level of the competition.

Arena is a circular luminaire that combines a classic form with the ability to reconfigure light sources by attaching them magnetically. Arena’s innovative magnetic ring enables users to snap on or snap off light sources at will. Each light source is equipped with strong neodymium magnets that form a safe, low voltage connection to the Arena ring.
With nearly 20,000 combinations of color, size, functionality and geometry, the Scout family is a powerful design asset for specifiers. Cylindrical in shape, the Scout has a simple, clean aesthetic with no visible seams or hardware. It is available in three lengths (6.25”, 10.5” and 18”), and two diameters (2.75” and 4.5”). Standard colors for the product family are pale green, gray, navy blue, black and white.
Stella is a small, minimalist pendant that combines high output downlight with indirect ambient uplight. The decorative, yet powerful pendant has a clean, modern aesthetic and is designed for interior use. Using a high-power light engine Stella provides both uplight via opened areas at the top of the shade, and downlight through a classic spherical diffuser.
Twin has a double-layered shaded, enclosing two separate light sources. The first, a circular LED module, provides soft indirect light between the shades creating a decorative halo effect. A second light source is a powerful central downlight that combines COB (chip-on-board) technology with a polycarbonate TIR (Total Internal Reflection) lens for precise light control. The downlight has a softer edge than a spotlight and offers reduced glare due to its position deep inside the inner shade.
Verner is a new take on a modern yet timeless shape with clean lines and simplicity, Verner’s contemporary look is completed with a classic spherical diffuser. The cone-like shade ensures that light is directed downwards and is therefore suited to applications where designers want to avoid indirect light illuminating the ceiling.
